John Murphy’s limited edition prints and photographs are collected throughout the United States
and abroad. They have been shown in a number of galleries throughout Philadelphia and New York and
have been featured in a variety of publications and blogs.
Murphy’s photographs, presented in his signature hand finished frames, are created from small sets
he constructs in his studio. His recent collage prints integrate 19th century etchings with his photography.
Inspired by a wide range of influences, his imagery merges vintage and modern sensibilities exploring ideas
of beauty and fantasy within the decorative arts.
His body of work has expanded to include a series of decorative frames, an exclusive stationery set
(published by TeNeues, NY), and an additional series of prints and stationery (licensed through The Art Group, UK),
each with world wide distribution in select retail and museum stores. Recent shops include the Contemporary Arts
Museum, TX; International Center for Photography, NY; Institute of Contemporary Art, MA; the J Paul Getty Museum, CA;
Nassau County Museum of Art, NY; and the New York Public Library, NY.
John Murphy works in New York, and in Philadelphia where he lives outside of the city with his wife and two small
children - who love to art direct their dad whenever possible!
